Pompeo Colonna (born May 12, 1479 in Rome , † June 28, 1532 in Naples ) was a cardinal , Bishop of Rieti , Italian general, viceroy of Naples from 1530 to 1532 and nephew of Prospero Colonna .

Life

Pompeo took hold - on the rumor of the death of Pope Julius II. Down - by assault the capitol and therefore was removed from his dignity, by Pope Leo X. He was later a legate in Ancona and Bologna and Archbishop of Monreale , appointed Viceroy of Naples by Charles V in 1530, he died on June 28, 1532. Colonna also wrote poetry , and he wrote his main work De laudibus mulierum in honor of Vittoria Colonna.
