Pompeo Colonna

Pompeo Colonna (born May 12, 1479 in Rome , † June 28, 1532 in Naples ) was a cardinal , Bishop of Rieti , Italian general, viceroy of Naples from 1530 to 1532 and nephew of Prospero Colonna .
Life
Pompeo took hold - on the rumor of the death of Pope Julius II. Down - by assault the capitol and therefore was removed from his dignity, by Pope Leo X. But on July 1, 1517 to cardinal the titular church of Santi XII Apostoli collected that he 1524 exchanged for San Lorenzo in Damaso . Pope Hadrian VI and his successor, Clement VII. Election, was Colonna's work. As a cardinal he was the administrator of the dioceses of Catania , Potenza , Terni , Acerno , Aquila, Rossano , Aversa , Sarno , Monreale and again of Rieti. He was later a legate in Ancona and Bologna and Archbishop of Monreale , appointed Viceroy of Naples by Charles V in 1530, he died on June 28, 1532. Colonna also wrote poetry , and he wrote his main work De laudibus mulierum in honor of Vittoria Colonna.
