On January 1, 2016, Pont-Trambouze , Cours-la-Ville and Thel were merged to form the Commune nouvelle Cours. Since then it has had the status of a Commune déléguée. The municipality of Pont-Trambouze belonged to the arrondissement of Villefranche-sur-Saône and the canton of Thizy-les-Bourgs .
