Posada (German Rusdorf , until 1903 also Rußdorf ) is a village with 290 inhabitants in Poland . It belongs to the municipality of Bogatynia in the powiat Zgorzelecki of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship .

Geographical location

Posada is three kilometers south of Ostritz in the Lusatian Neisse valley on the right bank of the river opposite the St. Marienthal monastery . The Zittau – Hagenwerder railway line runs through the village, the Bratków Zgorzelecki stop is in Posada, it bears the name of the neighboring Bratków and is no longer served.

history

The first documented mention of Rudunchesdorf comes from 1273, when Tietzo von Chottow sold part of the village to the monastery. After further purchases in 1329, the entire village of Rudingsdorf was finally owned by the monastery, which King Johann confirmed in 1346 . The village was parish to Ostritz and not to the parish in the neighboring village of Königshain .

Over the centuries the place name developed via Rudelsdorff into the form Rusdorf or Rußdorf, which has been in use since the Thirty Years' War .

The Catholic village school built at the end of the 18th century soon proved to be too small, and in 1853 the new school was consecrated.

With the commissioning of the Neißetalbahn from Nickrisch to Zittau , Rusdorf received a train station. As a result, the place also gained tourist importance and became the starting point for excursions to the romantic Neißetal valley to the south as far as Rohnau and Rosenthal . In 1881 a post agency opened in Rusdorf.

In 1898 the Protestant school and prayer house was built on the outskirts. The neo-Gothic building on the Neißehang, crowned with a pointed bell tower, was visible from afar and became the landmark of Rusdorf. In 1903 the name Rusdorf was declared binding in order to correct the different spellings used officially .

In 1922 Rusdorf became the municipality of Marienthal / Sa together with the monastery freedom and the monastery property. united, which had its seat in Rusdorf and 1925 992 inhabitants. When schools were brought into line during National Socialism, the lower grades were taught in the former Catholic school and the older students went to the former Protestant school.

After the Second World War , the village , which had previously been part of the Zittau administration , became Polish and was given the name Posada. This also marked the dissolution of the municipality of Marienthal / Sa. connected, the monastery freedom on the left of the Neisse and the monastery property remained with Saxony and were incorporated into Ostritz.

The German residents were expelled in 1945. Posada became a part of the community Działoszyn and with this then incorporated to Bogatynia . The former school and prayer house fell into ruin. After the train stop was no longer available, no Polish trains have been running on the route since 2000, only the German rail connection runs through Posada.

On the right bank of the Neisse, the Poetenweg leads to Krzewina , the Polish neighboring town of Ostritz. In Posada there are several Upper Lusatian half-timbered houses , some of which are in poor condition. In 2003 the mayors of Bogatynia and Ostritz reached an agreement to build a bridge between Marienthal and Posada.
