Posnowitz , Polish Poznowice , is a village in Upper Silesia in the municipality of Stubendorf (Izbicko) in the powiat Strzelecki in the Opole Voivodeship .

Posnowitz is 10.5 km from the district town of Strzelce Opolskie (Groß Strehlitz).
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1300 as "de poznowicz".
In 1910 the place had 415 inhabitants, 406 of them Polish-speaking and 9 German-speaking. In the referendum on March 20, 1921, 197 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 182 for Poland. Posnowitz remained with the German Empire. In 1936, the town was in Einsiedel renamed . Until 1945 the place was in the district of Groß Strehlitz .
In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration, was renamed Poznowice and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 Posnowitz came to the Opole Voivodeship and in 1999 to the re-established Powiat Strzelecki .
On March 6, 2006 , German was introduced as the second official language in the community of Stubendorf , which Posnowitz belongs to. On May 20, 2008, the place was also given the official German place name Posnowitz . In December 2008 bilingual place-name signs were put up.
