In 1910 the place had 145 inhabitants, all of them Polish-speaking. In the referendum on March 20, 1921, 47 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 34 for Poland. Sprentschütz remained with the German Reich. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Groß Strehlitz .

In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration, was renamed Sprzęcice and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship and in 1999 to the re-established Powiat Strzelecki .

On March 6, 2006 , German was introduced as the second official language in the community of Stubendorf , to which Sprentschütz belongs. On May 20, 2008, the place was also given the official German place name Sprentschütz . In December 2008 bilingual place-name signs were put up.
