history
Kroschnitz was first mentioned in a document in 1297.
In the referendum on March 20, 1921, 142 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 208 for Poland. Kroschnitz remained with the German Empire. In 1936, Kroschnitz was renamed Auendorf . Until 1945 the place was in the district of Groß Strehlitz .
In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration, was renamed Krośnica and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 Kroschnitz came to the Opole Voivodeship and in 1999 to the restored powiat Strzelecki. Since March 6, 2006, German has been the second official language in the Stubendorf community to which Kroschnitz belongs. On May 20, 2008, the place received the additional official German place name Kroschnitz and in December 2008 bilingual place name signs.
A German Friendship Circle (DFK) of the German minority is active in the village.
