Schedlitz , in Polish Siedlec , is a town in Upper Silesia . It is located in the municipality of Stubendorf (Izbicko) in the Powiat Strzelecki (district of Groß Strehlitz) in the Opole Voivodeship .
history
The place was first mentioned in a document in 1302.
In the referendum on March 20, 1921, 109 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 154 for Poland. Schedlitz remained with the German Empire. In 1936, the place was in Old Siedel renamed . Until 1945 the place was in the district of Groß Strehlitz .
In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration, was renamed Siedlec and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 Schedlitz came to the Opole Voivodeship and in 1999 to the re-established Powiat Strzelecki .
On March 6, 2006 , German was introduced as the second official language in the Stubendorf community to which Schedlitz belongs. On May 20, 2008, the place was also given the official German place name Schedlitz . In December 2008 bilingual place-name signs were put up.
Attractions
- Florian Chapel, a small chapel with a bell tower from 1908
- Modern St. Florian Chapel from the 1990s. Originally a house in which a kindergarten was later set up. In November 1994 the conversion of the elementary school into a chapel began. In 1996 it was completed and inaugurated.
