The Allée couverte by Prajou-Menhir

The Allée couverte of Prajou-Menhir ( German  "meadow of long stones" ) is a between 3000 and 2500 BC. Gallery grave erected in BC . It is located on the road to Île Grande in the municipality of Trébeurden in the Côtes-d'Armor department in Brittany in France .

Also known as the Côte de Granit Rose ( German  “Coast of the Pink Granite” ), this section was preferred in the Neolithic because of its natural resources. Fish , seaweed and seafood formed an additional food source for the arable farmers . Sea salt was extracted from the beach . The late Neolithic Allées couvertes with side entrance were built here. In addition to Kerguntuil, the facilities of Crec'h Quillé , La Maison des Feins von Tressé , in the Ille-et-Vilaine department and the Allée couverte de la Bellée near Boury-en-Vexin in the Oise department stand out for their petroglyphs.

description

The megalithic complex, located on a headland between the moor and the sea, was integrated into a slope ( French talus ). A small so-called menhir indicateur is attached to the monument, which was excavated and restored in 1965 . The north-south oriented system consists of an almost complete chamber of 26 bearing stones (a gap of one or two stones) and seven ceiling tiles (two of which are very large at the south end). The north end is rounded to form an apse .

Petroglyphs

The 9.50 m long main chamber is separated from the apsidal antechamber by a transverse plate decorated with engravings . The 14.5 meter long system has seven ceiling slabs and around two dozen bearing stones. Four of these stones are engraved. The figures show symbols (breasts) addressed as goddesses with signs that have been interpreted as daggers or stretchers. One considers this to be the expression of the cult of a mother goddess who u. a. is also seen as the protector of the dead. There are three reliefs of pairs of breasts with an underlying necklace, one of which is shown smaller. This motif can also be found in the facilities of Crec'h Quillé near Saint-Quay-Perros , Kerguntuil near Trégastel , La Maison des Feins from Tressé and Mougau-Bihan near Commana .
