For traffic on branch lines was a small tank locomotive constructed with the wheel arrangement B and also in the Prussian standard parts included to arrive at a standardization in the locomotive park of the Prussian state railways. Between 1882 and 1886 a total of 74 locomotives of this type were delivered to the state railways by various manufacturers. There were also former private railways, z. B. Nordhausen-Erfurter-Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft , Werra-Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft , supplied locomotives, which were also classified under the designation T 1 (see: Krauss Type XV ).

For comparison purposes, a locomotive in composite design as Bromberg 824 was delivered by Schichau in 1883. It was used together with the other T 1 and was redrawn as T 1 Stettin 6007 in 1906 and T 1 Altona 6010 in 1909.

In 1888, as part of the division of the Berlin-Dresdener Eisenbahn-Gesellschaft between Prussia and Saxony, two locomotives of this type were given to the Royal Saxon State Railways , where they were designated as E VII T.

The Deutsche Reichsbahn only took over one locomotive from Saxony as 98 7021 in its provisional re- designation plan for regional railroad locomotives , but this was retired in 1924. The T1s that remained in Prussia were retired by 1920.

With the nationalization of the private railways in 1950, two locomotives came to the Deutsche Reichsbahn as 98 6005 and 98 6008 , which largely corresponded to the T 1. They were delivered to Kleinbahnen in 1901 and 1913 and were retired in 1959 and 1955, respectively.

In 1880, the railway directorate Bromberg noted the Prussian state railways two composite - tank locomotives as Bromberg 801 and 802 in service. They were among the first composite tank locomotives of the Prussian State Railways and were intended for branch line service. They were retired by 1894.

In 1882, the BMAG built six tank locomotives for the Bn2t-type Bn2t railway directorate of the Prussian State Railways . They were first designated as Bromberg 811-816 , from 1906 as T 1 Danzig 6031-6036 and were also intended for branch line service.

Magdeburg design

Number: 7th
Manufacturer : Vulcan Szczecin
Year of construction (s): 1882
Retirement: 1911
Design type: Bn2t
Length over buffers: k. A.
Service mass: 21.8 t
Friction mass: 21.8 t

Cylinder diameter: 280 mm
Piston stroke: 450 mm
Boiler overpressure: 12 bar
Grate area: 0.68 m²
Evaporation heating surface: 37.8 m²

In 1882 the Magdeburg Railway Directorate of the Prussian State Railways put seven Bn2t tank locomotives into service with so-called omnibus trains between Halle and Leipzig. They bore the numbers Magdeburg 867 to 873. They soon became too weak for this task and therefore were taken out of service from 1902 onwards. One locomotive was redesignated as T 1 hall 6040 and retired in 1911.

Type Lentz

T 1 (Prussia) type Lentz
Number: 20th
Manufacturer : Hohenzollern
Year of construction (s): 1880-1882
Retirement: 1911
Design type: Bn2t
Length over buffers: 5660-6700 mm
Service mass: 14.3-26.0 t
Friction mass: 14.3-26.0 t
Wheel set mass : 7.15-13.0 t
Driving wheel diameter: 1000-1280 mm
Cylinder diameter: 220-300 mm
Piston stroke: 350-420 mm
Boiler overpressure: 12 bar
Grate area: 0.40-0.65 m²
Evaporation heating surface: 15.7-36.3 m²

At the turn of the 1870s to the 1880s, the Actien-Gesellschaft für Lokomotivbau Hohenzollern in Düsseldorf under its director Lentz developed a two-axle tank locomotive design for omnibus trains, which was also known as the "Hohenzollern Patentlok". The specialty of this type of locomotive was that the cylinders lay between the driving axles and the coupling rods therefore had to be guided past the cylinders on the outside. The two wheel sets could be arranged at the ends of the locomotive, so that a relatively large wheelbase was achieved with overhanging masses reduced to a minimum. As a result, good running properties were achieved even at higher speeds.

A total of 20 locomotives of this type were supplied to various Prussian railway companies and head offices. The dimensions of the locomotives were very different; the largest was No. 601 of the Lower Silesian-Märkische Eisenbahn , which was delivered as a test locomotive for the Berlin Stadtbahn .

The following locomotives were delivered to Prussian railways:

  • Berlin-Hamburg Railway : 4 locomotives, SCHILDHORN to SACHSENWALD, 1880
  • Holstein Marsh Railway: 2 locomotives, KRONPRINZENKOOG and FRIEDRICHSKOOG, 1880
  • Lower Silesian-Märkische Eisenbahn : 1 locomotive, No. 601, 1880
  • KED Bromberg: 2 locomotives, No. 803 and 804, 1881
  • KED Magdeburg: 2 locomotives, No. 865 and 866, 1881
  • Berlin-Szczecin Railway : 6 locomotives, No.A229 to A234, 1881
  • Upper Silesian Railway: 3 locomotives, No. 622 to 624, 1882

In 1906, only the former KRONPRINZENKOOG of the Holstein Marschbahn was redrawn as T 1 Altona 6001. The former 601 of the Lower Silesian-Märkische Eisenbahn was taken out of service shortly before it was renamed T 1 Berlin 6003.
