Push the Button ( German: Push the button ) was the first song from the fourth studio album by the Sugababes , Taller in More Ways was extracted. It was released in September 2005. Thematically, the song is about how a girl tries to influence a man to finally “ push the button ” instead of waiting any longer.

History of origin

The song was written by band members Keisha Buchanan , Mutya Buena and Heidi Range along with African American songwriter Dallas Austin . The song has clear electronic influences.

success

Push the Button was a successful single by the Sugababes. The song was a number one hit in the UK and Austria, as well as Ireland and New Zealand. It reached number two in Germany and number three in Switzerland. On October 16, 2005, Push the Button was also number one on the British single , download and airplay charts .

In August 2005, the song was first played on Chris Moyle's radio show on BBC Radio One, as one of two songs from the new album. Shortly thereafter, Island Records announced that Push the Button had been selected to be the album's first release. In September 2005 the Maxi CD was released in Great Britain. The song was used in the soundtrack of the 2006 romantic comedy It's a Boy / Girl Thing . It was also used in the commercial for Tassimo coffee machines.

Video

In the music video for Push the Button , directed by Matthew Rolston and produced by Lindsay Turnham for Exposure Films , the Sugababes dance in an elevator of a tall building with three different men waiting for it. On each of the floors where one of the men is standing, one of the Sugababes gets out and dances with the man.

The video was of different recording locations in the area of in July 2005, Shepherd's Bush in London added. It was first broadcast in the UK on the week of September 12, 2005.
