In 1998 Donaghy met Mutya Buena and Keisha Buchanan at a party and contacted producer Cameron McVey . The Sugababes were founded. At the end of 2001 she separated from the band and was replaced by Heidi Range , one of the former Atomic Kitten singers, in early 2002 . After that, she pursued a solo career.
solo
Donaghy's first solo album, released in September 2003, is called Revolution in Me . Compared to the Sugababes songs, the music of the solo debut is usually perceived as less cheerful and is based on the Sugababes pop style, but with influences from electronic music , indie and experimental.
Two songs were released as singles. In June 2003 Overrated appeared , which reached number 19 in the English charts . The second single Twist of Fate was released in September 2003, but did not reach any higher chart position. Since the sales success of the singles as well as the album remained below expectations, Donaghy lost her recording contract with London Records a little later .
2005 Donaghy was on the album Signs of a Struggle by Mattafix on backing vocals in the songs To & Fro and Everyone Around You heard well in Morcheebas song Everybody Loves a Loser . In mid-2006, songs from her second album, which was released in June 2007 under the name Ghosts , were released on Donaghy's MySpace page.
After four years, the first single Don't Give It Up from the second album Ghosts was released in April 2007 ; the video was shot in Morocco under the direction of Sophie Muller . The second single So You Say was released in early July 2007. After that, she appeared in the musical RENT in London's West End, which ran from October 2007 to February 2008. There she played the role of Mimi.
In 2009 she worked on the song Styfling by the band Square One . However, the song could not reach the charts in any country. Although she said in an interview in January 2009 that she did not plan to release another album, she said in an interview in June 2009 that she would work on new music, but was unsure whether she would stop working on it.
Mutya Keisha Siobhan
On July 20, 2012, Siobhan Donaghy's Twitter account and the music website Popjustice. announced that the original members of the Sugababes have reformed under a new name. In the future the band will appear under the name Mutya Keisha Siobhan .
