Sophie Muller

Sophie Melanie Muller (* 31 January 1962 in Marylebone , London , England ) is a British music video - director . She has directed over 160 music videos, working long-term with artists such as No Doubt , Garbage , Blur , Annie Lennox and the Eurythmics .

Life

Although born in London, she grew up on the Isle of Man on, then went to London again, visited the Central Saint Martins and studied after graduation there Film and Television at the Royal College of Art to master . Of the films "Interlude" and "In Excelsis Deo (In Adoration of God)" she made during her studies, "In Excelsis Deo" was awarded the "J Walter Thompson Prize for creativity".

First she worked on the horror film "Company of Wolves" (German: " The Time of the Wolves ") as a third assistant. The opportunity to direct the film came from her acquaintance with John Stewart and Billy Poveda from the Oil Factory - a film production company that was already established at the time. She started there with works like “I Need A Man” for the Eurythmics . She became one of the busiest employees at the Oil Factory . She currently works for both the American production company Oil Factory and the British company Factory Films .

Awards

She won a Grammy Award for the Annie Lennox video "Diva" , an MTV Video Music Award for the music video for Annie Lennox "Why?" And was nominated for a Grammy for the Eurythmics video "Savage". She received the Brit Award for the video by the group Shakespears Sister entitled "Stay" .
