The Qatar Sports Club ( Arabic نادي قطر الرياضي), also known as Qatar SC , is a sports club from Doha , Qatar . After relegating from the Qatar Stars League in 2016, the men's soccer team currently plays in the country's second-highest league, the Qatargas League . The team plays their home games at the Qatar SC Stadium . The club is next to Al-Rayyan the most famous club from the country on the Arabian Peninsula .

history

The club was officially founded as Al Nasour in Doha in 1959 and merged with the two clubs Al Oruba and Al Esteqlal in 1972 . It was not until 1981 that the club was named Qatar Sports Club . The soccer team has won seven national championships to date, including three in a row from 1967 to 1969. The last title win was celebrated in 2003. At the end of the 2008/09 season, the team reached fourth place.
