Quirino Adolfo Schmitz

Quirino Adolfo Schmitz OFM (born November 22, 1918 in Gaspar in the Brazilian state of Santa Catarina , † July 20, 2007 ) was a Brazilian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Teófilo Otoni .

Life

Quirino Adolfo Schmitz joined the Franciscan Order and was ordained a priest on November 28, 1943 .

On December 22, 1960, Pope John XXIII appointed him . first bishop of the newly founded diocese Teófilo Otoni. The Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil, Archbishop Armando Lombardi , donated him his episcopal ordination on April 25 of the following year. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Joinville , Gregório Warmeling , and the Bishop of Dourados , Carlos Schmitt, OFM.

He participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father . He was also a participant in the third general conference of the Latin American Bishops' Council CELAM in 1979 in Puebla .

Pope John Paul II accepted his early resignation on August 3, 1985.
