The Río Surutú is a river in the Santa Cruz Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia and belongs to the river system of the Amazon .

The Río Surutú has its origin in the Amboró National Park and is called Quebrada Surutú (Spanish "quebrada" = brook) for the first 36 kilometers , and from its union with the Rio Colorado / Quebrada Blanco is called Río Surutú for the following 89 kilometers up to its mouth. The Surutú rises in the municipality of El Torno in the province of Andrés Ibáñez in the Amboró National Park (Parque Nacional Amboró), then the river forms the northern limit of the national park for about a quarter of its total length.
The Quebrada Surutú rises at an altitude of 1630 m on the southeast edge of the Sierra Mataracú . The Quebrada Surutú flows primarily in a north-easterly direction, crosses the western part of the Municipio Porongo (formerly: Municipio Ayacucho ) in the province of Andres Ibañez and has several impressive waterfalls in this course. After its union with the Quebrada Blanca, the Río Surutú flows in a north-westerly direction, leaves the province of Andres Ibañez and crosses the northern part of the municipality Buena Vista in the province of Ichilo , to finally join the municipality Yapacaní with the river after a total of 125 kilometers Alturas del Yapacaní (Upper Yapacaní) to unite to the Río Yapacaní .
Tributaries
From the Vorandenkette Sierra Mataracu the Surutú River is fed by several tributaries, of which the most important of the Río Colorado, the Río Semayo, the Río Cheyo and the Río Saguayo are.
