The Río Tallija is one of the headwaters of the Río Beni and is located on the eastern slopes of the Andean Cordillera in the South American state of Bolivia .
The Río Tallija rises on the southeast edge of the Serranía de Sicasica near the village of Japo Kasa on Cerro Kope Khana (4423 m) at an altitude of 4324 m . The river flows from its source in a north-northwest direction and joins after 27 kilometers with the Río Khala Parani to the Río Leque (35 km).
After 35 kilometers, the Río Leque becomes the Río Ayopaya (40 km), this becomes the Río Sacambaya (37 km), which then joins the Río Negro (Cochabamba) and then forms the Río Cotacajes . After 125 kilometers it joins the Río Santa Elena and then bears the name Río Alto Beni .
