Rütger de Teyler

Rütger de Teyler also de Teijller (* 1652 in Holland ; † January 10, 1712 in Angerburg) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Teyler came from the Netherlands , where his ancestors are said to have immigrated from England . On March 25, 1676 he was a captain in the Dutch service. In 1678 he bought Samsdorf, then Friedrichswalde near Königsberg in Prussia . 1688 joined the "Dohna" regiment of the Prussian army as a lieutenant colonel . From July 24, 1692 he was in command of the Count Truchsess battalion in Königsberg and took part in the war against France in this capacity until 1697 . Teyler was promoted to colonel on March 1, 1695 and major general on January 11, 1705. His company , which was later upgraded to the Jung-Schwerin Infantry Regiment , was given to one of his sons, who had previously been with the Cologne Dragoons , with royal permission from February 1, 1707 .

Several children, a daughter and three sons emerged from his marriage to Sibylla von Eppingen. One of the sons became a colonel and owned the Sporwienen estate , a second was a captain and owned the Rosenstein estate near Angerburg .
