The RŽD series Э5К (German transcription E5K ) of the Russian Railways (RŽD) is a series of four-axle electric locomotives per section for operation for freight trains on main roads with alternating current 25 kV 50 Hz. They were from 2004 on as a replacement for the locomotives of the series ВЛ60 and ВЛ80 elaborated and manufactured. Different modifications with the designation 2ЭC5К , 3ЭC5К and 4ЭC5К designate multi-section variants with the number of sections corresponding to the prefix. The electric locomotive 4ЭC5К (built 2014) is currently the most powerful locomotive in the world with an hourly output of 13,120 kW.

history

The locomotive was developed in a model series with a variable number of sections as a replacement for the locomotives built by the Novocherkassk electric locomotive factory in the 1960s . In the basic version it has the wheel arrangement Bo 'Bo'. Its design was worked out by the All-Russian Scientific Research and Development Institute for Electric Locomotives ( ВЭлНИИ [ WELNII ]) in Novocherkassk , which is also part of the Novocherkassk electric locomotive factory, and the production took place and continues to be at the transmash holding . The suffix K in the name indicates that all locomotives in the model series are still made with traction motors in direct current design.

Э5К

The one-section variant Э5К is intended for carrying out light transport tasks. It is also intended to run suburban trains, as a replacement for failed electric multiple units .

The electric locomotive is made with a steel box of the wagon type with a main frame, on which a plastic engine driver's cab and a set of equipment are placed. The vehicle part is designed with the supporting axle suspension with the motor axle bearing, designed as a pawl bearing drive . The electric locomotive uses advanced traction electric motors of the type НБ-514Б ( NB-514B ) and an electric recuperation brake , at the same time a microprocessor system of the administration provides manual and automatic control of the movement of the locomotive and diagnostics of the parameters of movement and work all equipment of the electric locomotive.

The following systems for monitoring the work of the driver are implemented in the locomotive: КЛУБ (KLUB) , САУТ-ZM / 485 (SAUT-ZM / 485) and ТСКБМ (TSKBM). The perfected construction of the administrative cabins, equipped with thermoelectric air conditioning and heating, significantly improves the working conditions of the locomotive crew. The locomotive is also equipped with cooling systems and sanitary equipment.

The electrical equipment of the locomotive is similar to that of the ВЛ85 , on the basis of which the locomotive was created. It differed from the ВЛ85 only in technical applications that have already been tested on the electric locomotives of the ЭП1 family , such as more economical ventilation systems, control of the electric motors of auxiliary machines and the possibility of working at low revs as well as the use of a microprocessor system for management and diagnostics .

Four-axle electric locomotives have always been a rarity on the railways of the former USSR . The number of four-axle electric locomotives, which were converted from two two-section electric locomotives;

  • ВЛ40 - an alternating current electric locomotive with group drive, which was produced in two copies, the series was not realized.

The index С in the name indicates the word Sections , which means that the locomotive works through the multiple control system . The number 2 indicates the number of sections with two.

The locomotive consists of two uniform sections, each of which has a driver's cab at the front and an inter-section transition at the rear. The mass of the electric locomotive is 192 t, the length over the SA-3 (central buffer coupling) is 35,004 mm. The mechanical part of the 2ЭС5К locomotive is identical to that of the direct current freight locomotive 2ЭС4К manufactured by the Novocherkassk electric locomotive factory from 2006 .

In 2007, an auxiliary section was made for the previous locomotives, with the classification of which the performance of the 2ЭС5К could be increased by 1.5 times . The resulting locomotive 3ЭС5К was used for the transport of heavy trains or for work on railway sections with significant gradients. In terms of function, the middle section did not differ from the other sections, except for the replacement of the driver's cab with an additional intermediate section, which made it easier for the driver's brigade to work than the ВЛ80 C and ВЛ80 P , which also come as a 3-section unit worked. Originally the locomotives with three sections were given the designation 2ЭС5КБ ( 2ES5KB ), later the series was renamed 3ЭC5К .

4ЭC5К

At the beginning of August 2014, Transmashholding presented a 4-section variant of the series with two auxiliary sections and a motor-axis bearing design . The locomotive is intended for driving the heaviest trains on the most complicated sections of the BAM . With its four sections, the locomotive has an hourly output of 13,120 kW, which is the unofficial record in the world of locomotive construction. 4ЭC5К has the wheel sequence Bo'Bo '+ Bo'Bo' + Bo'Bo '+ Bo'Bo' and has 16 axes. Further milestones of the most powerful electric locomotives for alternating current are:

  • SŽD series ВЛ85 - this twelve-axle two-section locomotive for alternating current with an hourly output of up to 10,020 kW stands for the most powerful electric locomotive in the world with mass production.
