Rolf Peter Kahl , known as RP Kahl , (born November 8, 1970 in Cottbus ) is a German actor , director and film producer .

Live and act

After graduating from high school, Kahl completed an acting training at the Rostock branch of the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin . As an actor, he had over 70 engagements in film, television and theater productions.

In 1995 he founded the company "Erdbeermundfilm", with which he made films such as New Year's Eve Countdown and Angel Express , short films, music videos and video art as a director and producer . With Torsten Neumann , director of the Oldenburg International Film Festival , he founded Independent Partners Filmverleih in 1999 , which brought the film Ken Park by Larry Clark and Edward Lachman to German cinemas in 2004 .

In 2001 he founded the 99euro-films project with Torsten Neumann . This project produced an episode film with contributions from twelve German filmmakers, which premiered during the 2002 Berlinale as the opening film of "Perspektive Deutsches Kino" . Another episode film followed in 2003 with contributions by nine European directors, which premiered at the Locarno International Film Festival in 2003. In 2005, the project realized the documentary film Mädchen am Sonntag about the four actresses Laura Tonke , Nicolette Krebitz , Katharina Schüttler and Inga Birkenfeld .

RP Kahl has been teaching in the fields of fine arts and film at the Hanover University of Applied Sciences , at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin and at the Institute for Drama, Film and TV Professions in Berlin since 2001 . Since 2018 he has been a professor at the Dekra Hochschule für Medien Berlin. He is a member of the advisory committees for film selection at the Berlinale and the Oldenburg International Film Festival. He is a member of the board of the German Film Academy .
