Rachel Komisarz (born December 5, 1976 in Detroit ) is an American swimmer .

Career

She lives in Louisville , Kentucky with her husband, bodybuilder Jeff Baugh . There she is part of the Lakeside Swim Team , where she is trained by Mike DeBoor . She achieved her first major success with the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay at the 2003 World Swimming Championships in Barcelona , where she became world champion. At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens , she swam in the lead-up to the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay, which then took Olympic gold in a world record time in the finals , and in the lead-up to the 4 × 200 m individual medley relay, which took second place in the final.

She celebrated her greatest international success at the 2008 Short Course World Championships in Manchester , where she won the gold medal with the 4 × 100 m layer relay. In addition, she was runner-up in the 100 m butterfly world champion, with which she also demonstrated her class in an individual decision. At the US Olympiatrials in 2008 she could not prevail as third place over the 100 m butterfly distance. She swam 76 hundredths slower than her personal best in Atlanta last year and therefore had to give Christine Magnuson and Elaine Breeden the Olympic ticket.
