Rainer Erdel
Rainer Erdel (born June 7, 1955 in Fürth ) is a German politician ( FDP ) from Dietenhofen . Erdel was a member of the German Bundestag from October 2009 to October 2013 . He is a self-employed farmer , chairman of the board of the Dietenhofen biomass cogeneration plant and since May 1, 2014 mayor of his home municipality.
Professional career
After completing secondary school in 1971 and training as a farmer in Ansbach , he did his basic military service from 1976 to 1977 and was a temporary soldier in the Bundeswehr from 1977 to 1978 . Erdel became agricultural master in 1980 . It operates as an independent farmer a 98 ha large training company and forms as part of the Erasmus program in particular students from Ireland , China and Kazakhstan made. In 1993 he founded a biomass heating plant in Dietenhofen and was its chairman until 2009. He is also Colonel of the Reserve in the Air Mobile Operations Division (DLO) in Veitshöchheim.
Political career
Since 1984 he is member of the local council in Dietenhofen and chairman of the group of voters districts Dietenhofen. From 2002 to 2008 he was third mayor in Dietenhofen, then second mayor until 2014. In the state elections in Bavaria in 2008 , he ran as a direct candidate for the Bavarian FDP in the Ansbach-Nord constituency and received 7.7% of the first votes. Despite number 5 on the Middle Franconian list, it was not enough for entry into the Bavarian state parliament . In the 2009 Bundestag election he was a direct candidate in the Ansbach constituency , got 10.2% of the first votes and entered the Bundestag via the Bavarian state list .
Due to the failure of his party to pass the five percent hurdle in the 2013 Bundestag election , he is no longer represented in the 18th Bundestag.
In a runoff election in the municipal elections in Bavaria in 2014 , Rainer Erdel, who had run for the constituency of the districts of Dietenhofen (WGO), prevailed with 62.9% of the votes against Rainer Pfeiffer ( non-party voter community ), who received 37%.

Erdel was a full member of the committees for food, agriculture and consumer protection and defense as well as the European Union parliamentary group of the German Bundestag .
