Reiner Stuhlmann (born January 31, 1942 ) is a former German football player who was active in the 1960s for BSG Motor Steinach in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football . He is the bearer of the Federal Cross of Merit .

Athletic career

When in the football season 1962/63 the company sports association (BSG) Motor Steinach managed to march through to promotion to the GDR upper league after their promotion to the second-rate first GDR league , the team also included the 20-year-old striker Reiner Stuhlmann. In the 26 league games he was used eleven times and contributed a goal to promotion. Although Reiner Stuhlmann had also been registered for the top division squad in 1963/64, he was only used in a top division game in the second half of the season because he was studying. In the second Steinach league season, Reiner Stuhlmann managed to secure a place in the regular eleven. He played 17 of the 26 league games mainly as a winger and scored four goals. Since Motor Steinach missed relegation, the BSG had to compete in the GDR league again from 1965/66. Reiner Stuhlmann continued to be part of the Steinach squad until 1968, but could no longer fully assert himself in any season. Of the 90 league games of the three seasons, he completed only 35 games and only scored six goals. In the summer of 1968, at the age of 26, he retired from higher-class football, where he had come to 18 league games with four goals and 46 GDR league games with seven goals within seven years. As a recreational footballer, he was later still active at the lower class BSG Post in Sonneberg .

Especially after the political change in 1990 , Reiner Stuhlmann became involved in public life and local politics. He participated in social projects and in the voluntary sector and was from 1994 to 2006 District Administrator of the district Sonneberg . In 2009 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his commitment.
