Rakówek ( Lithuanian Rakuvekas ) is a village in the Polish Podlaskie Voivodeship . It is located in Suwałki County and belongs to the Przerośl Rural Commune .
geography
Rakówek is located in northeast Poland and is located south of the Rominter Heide (Polish: Puszcza Romincka) belonging to the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship in the Podlaskie Voivodeship . The border between the two voivodships once formed the state border between the German Empire and Poland.
History
In the period between the 8th and the 19th century, Rakówek was on the territory of the Lithuanians in the area of the western Baltic tribe of the Jatwingers (also: Sudauer). From 13./14. In the 19th century it was incorporated into the Grand Duchy of Lithuania , which existed until 1569. The Soviet-Lithuanian peace treaty of July 12, 1920 regulated membership in Lithuania .
Today the region around Suwałki belongs to Poland, formed the Suwałki Voivodeship between 1975 and 1998 , which then became part of the Podlaskie Voivodeship. Rakówek is one of 24 localities with a Schulzenamt (sołectwo) in the association of Gmina Przerośl in the Powiat Suwalski .
