Career as a player

Ralf Becker played in his youth at VfB Stuttgart . With his move from TSF Ditzingen to Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the Bundesliga in 1993, the midfielder played for the first time in the professional field and was in the quarter-finals of the European Cup Winners' Cup against Benfica Lisbon in 1994 with Bayer Leverkusen (1: 1/4: 4). In 1995 he moved within the Bundesliga to FC St. Pauli , before joining the second division club Stuttgarter Kickers a year later . After his brief return to TSF Ditzingen, the second division clubs SSV Reutlingen 05 and Karlsruher SC , where he ended his career in 2005, were further stations of his professional career.

Career as a trainer and functionary

After the end of his active career, Becker switched to the coaching staff of Karlsruher SC in 2006 as an assistant coach, with whom he was promoted to the first Bundesliga in 2007. On August 19, 2009, the club dismissed him along with head coach Edmund Becker . In October he finally dissolved his contract with the Baden club and signed a contract with the regional league club SSV Ulm 1846 football on October 15 . On November 30, 2010, he made his office available there.

After the end of the 2010/11 season, Becker became the new chief scout of VfB Stuttgart . A year later he was appointed the new Head of Juniors & Scouting , which, after restructuring, also took over the duties of the previous youth manager Marc Kienle . Until a new restructuring in summer 2014 he worked in this position; from July 2014 to January 19, 2016 he was again the club's chief scout.

From June 5, 2016, Becker was Managing Director Sport at Holstein Kiel . Under his leadership, the Kiel team rose from the 3rd division to the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2016/17 season and missed the Bundesliga march one season later in relegation .

On May 28, 2018, Becker became director of sports at HSV Fußball AG , which runs the Hamburger SV's licensed player department . He signed a contract with the Bundesliga relegated team until 2021. Under Becker, HSV replaced head coach Christian Titz with Hannes Wolf after the 10th matchday of the 2018/19 season , when they were 2 points behind the leaders in 5th place. Under Wolf, HSV was autumn champion , but gambled away in the second half of the season (15th place in the second half of the table) the direct rise. On May 24, 2019, Becker was removed from the Executive Board by the Supervisory Board, released and replaced by Jonas Boldt .

For the season 2020/21 is Becker to succeed Ralf Minge Sport managing director of SG Dynamo Dresden , which in the pre-season in the 3. Liga is staying.
