Scout

Jonas Boldt studied business administration with a focus on sports management and began working as a scout at Bayer 04 Leverkusen in 2007 . In 2009 he became chief scout and assistant to sports director Rudi Völler . Arturo Vidal and Dani Carvajal are among his most important discoveries as a scout .

Manager

Bayer 04 Leverkusen

After manager Michael Reschke moved from Bayer 04 Leverkusen to Bayern Munich , he was his successor for the 2014/15 Bundesliga season . His first significant transfer was the signing of Hakan Çalhanoğlu from Hamburger SV .

On July 1, 2018, Boldt switched to the management of the Sports Division , which Rudi Völler had previously filled out. On December 1 of that year, Boldt handed over his position to Simon Rolfes and was at his side in an advisory capacity until May 2019.

In December 2018, Der Spiegel published a report as part of his work with Football Leaks , according to which Boldt had made an offer to Swansea City for its player Łukasz Fabiański in 2015 , which had been prepared mainly by its consultancy. Fabiański had only signed a contract with a term of four years the year before, and he had performed so well in the past season that his advisors then demanded significantly better conditions for their clients. To put pressure on Swansea City, they wrote an offer in which Boldt declared a clear interest in signing Fabiański and could offer him the goalkeeper position in the club through a possible departure from Bernd Leno . After taking note of this document, Boldt expressed his interest in Fabiański in writing to his advisors. This message was then passed on by the advisors to those responsible at Swansea City, who should now have to deal with the departure of their goalkeeper. The subsequent extension of Fabiański's contract by one year earned the player's agents a low seven-figure fee. According to the Football Leaks research, the facts presented served only to enrich Fabiański's advisors; Neither the consultant nor the Leverkusen-based company had any interest in a change. The consulting firm denied the Spiegel report and stated that Bayer 04 Leverkusen had a sincere interest in Fabiański's commitment. Boldt also confirmed that he had received a pre-formulated e-mail and that he had answered this largely unchanged; but with the aim of actually wanting to commit the player. The sports director at the time, Rudi Völler, also confirmed that a commitment by Fabiański at the time was a possible reaction to Leno's departure.

Hamburger SV

On May 24, 2019 Boldt was to succeed Ralf Becker Sports Board of HSV football AG , the professional squad of Hamburger SV , which operates in the preseason direct promotion to the Bundesliga had missed. In March 2020, differences between Boldt and CFO Frank Wettstein and CEO Bernd Hoffmann became public, whereupon Hoffmann was released. Since then, Boldt and Wettstein have led the AG as a board duo.
