Career
Abid began his career in 1996 in the Québec Major Junior Hockey League with the Chicoutimi Saguenéens and reached the finals of the Memorial Cup with the team . In the 1998 NHL Entry Draft , he was selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the second round in 28th place. He then moved to the QMJHL to the Acadie-Bathurst Titan , with whom he played again for the Memorial Cup. And also in his third station in the QMJHL, with the Halifax Mooseheads , he reached the Memorial Cup Finals. Even though he won the Ed Chynoweth Trophy as top scorer in his third final tournament , he could not win the cup again. Since he received no contract from the Colorado Avalanche, he was drafted again in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft . This time the Phoenix Coyotes select him in the 3rd round in 85th place.
In the coming season he started in the Coyotes farm team, with the Springfield Falcons in the AHL , but a protracted foot injury threw him back. After playing again in Springfield the following year, he made his NHL debut with the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2002/03 season . At the end of the season he was given to the Pittsburgh Penguins . The breakthrough in the NHL failed again due to an injury. Due to a knee injury, he missed most of the season. During the lockout season , he played in the 2004/05 season with the AHL farm team of the Penguins, the Wilkes-Barre Penguins . In August 2005, the Atlanta Thrashers signed him as a free agent . However, he only played six games in Atlanta and is active for the Chicago Wolves in the AHL for most of the season . He made his next attempt in the 2006/07 season with the Nashville Predators , but again the AHL was his primary league, this time with the Milwaukee Admirals .
In his previous 68 NHL appearances, he scored 14 goals and gave 16 assists .
Between 2007 and 2009 he was on the ice for SC Bern in the National League A before moving to HK Traktor Chelyabinsk in the Continental Hockey League in summer 2009 . After 33 KHL games for Chelyabinsk, his contract was canceled in January 2010 and Abid moved to Rögle BK in the Elitserien .
Between 2010 and 2012 he played for the EC Red Bull Salzburg ; after that he moved to Finland to JYP Jyväskylä . In December 2013, the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg from the German Ice Hockey League reacted with Abid's commitment to a series of injuries. He received a contract in Wolfsburg until the end of the season.
