Raschau ( Polish Raszowa ) is a village in Upper Silesia in the municipality of Tarnau (Tarnów Opolski) in the Powiat Opolski in the Opole Voivodeship .

Geographical location

Raschau is five kilometers northeast of the Tarnau municipality and 19 kilometers southeast of the district town and voivodeship capital of Opole ( Opole ). The village is on the Dembioer Flößbach .

Neighboring towns of Raschau are Danietz ( Daniec ) in the north and Zauche ( Utrata ) in the east, Nakel ( Nakło ) in the south-west and Schulenberg ( Walidrogi ) in the east .

history

Raschau was first mentioned in 1297 after a gentleman named Thulecz built a church in the village. In 1401 the place is mentioned again as Raschav , 1421 as Raschowa and 1532 as Raschowy . In 1618 ten farmers, two millers and five gardeners lived in Raschowa. In 1781 the church burned down in the village and was rebuilt ten years later. In 1783 the place had 225 inhabitants, in 1855 there were 465 and finally 580 in 1900.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 207 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 229 for Poland. Like the entire constituency of Opole, Raschau remained with the German Empire. In 1939 Raschau had 723 inhabitants. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Opole .

In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration and was renamed Raszowa and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 the place became part of the Opole Voivodeship and in 1999 the Powiat Opolski .

On February 15, 2007, German was introduced as the second official language in the municipality. On April 14, 2008, the place received the additional official German place name Raschau .

Attractions

  • Roman Catholic Church of Divine Providence - The first building was built in 1291. It burned down in 1781 and was rebuilt in 1791 in the Baroque style. In 1938 the church building was expanded.
