history

The Schulenburg colony was founded in 1773 as part of the Frederician colonization - Silesia fell to Prussia in 1742 . The namesake for the new settlement was the then Prussian Minister von Schulenburg . Work on the first houses began in the year the colony was founded under the direction of the Royal Forest Inspector Burich. In 1774/75 20 colonists were settled, nine of whom came from the Duchy of Jägerndorf , four from Bohemia , two from Moravia and one from Nuremberg . The construction work on the barns was only finished in 1778.

In 1861 there were 134 Catholic, 93 Protestant and 6 Jewish residents in Schulenburg. The local Catholic school was established in 1825 and was attended by children of both Catholic and Protestant denominations.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 142 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 8 for Poland. Like the entire constituency of Opole, Schulenburg remained with the German Empire.

In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration and was renamed Walidrogi . In 1950 the place became part of the Opole Voivodeship and in 1999 the Powiat Opolski .

On February 15, 2007, German was introduced as the second official language in the municipality. On April 14, 2008 the place received the additional official German place name Schulenburg .
