Life

Ratimir was the successor to Lyudevit . In 831, with the support of the Bulgarians , he led the Croatian revolt against the Count of Friuli and took over the rule. He is said to have persecuted the Christians between the Drava and Sava . Pribina from Nitra and his son Kocel are said to have fled to Ratimir .

In 838 Ratpot , Margrave of the Ostmark , fought against Ratimir on behalf of Ludwig the German , conquered his empire and drove him out. This event is mentioned in the Annales regni Francorum . Ratimir probably fled to the Bulgarians.
