action
Jonathan Fischer, exhausted from a long journey, wants to take a room in a guest house in Sardinia on Lago del Coghinas near Oschiri . The two landladies Annabella and Isabella are not there, so Jonathan has to wait a few hours. When he can finally check in, he has to fill out a long, indiscreet questionnaire. In the next few days he meets his now fourteen-year-old daughter Jade, and he also falls in love with Annabella. In order to impress her, he sets out to beautify the property with new buildings and a large pond. The paradisiacal existence is suddenly disrupted when a god kills himself and a princess is shot. The police comb the property in search of the killer. At the same time, construction workers with pneumatic drills, excavators and trucks start working on the pond as if nothing had happened. Isabella and Annabella agree to bury the dead man at the bottom of the pond. Annabella and Jonathan finally celebrate their wedding on a boat.
criticism
The film service judges that the "declaration of love to Sardinia shot in Western settings is at the same time the emphatically offensive story of a love of old age". Conceived as a “pointed attack of realism against 'bourgeois hypocrisy', the description of the generation around 60 sometimes coagulates, however, into a horror of egocentricity and imperial behavior”.
