Oschiri (in the Gallurese dialect: Óscari ) is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 3142 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Sassari in Sardinia . The municipality is located about 40.5 kilometers southwest of Olbia and about 20.5 kilometers south of Tempio Pausania . The Coghinas flows through the municipality , which is dammed up here to form an artificial lake ( Lago di Coghinas ) and is used to generate electricity.

The Byzantine rock altar of Oschiri is opposite the country church of Santo Stefano outside the village.

Oschiri has a train station on the Cagliari – Golfo Aranci Marittima railway line . This is where Strada Statale 597 di Logudoro from Codrongianos to Olbia (also E840 ) and Strada Statale 392 del Lago del Coghinas to Tempio Pausania cross.
