Valledoria ( Gallurian : Codaruìna ) is an Italian municipality with 4323 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Sassari .
geography
Valledoria is located on the north coast of Sardinia east of Castelsardo on the Gulf of Asinara , near the mouth of the Coghinas , which forms the large La Perla Blu lagoon . In addition to the main town, the municipality also includes La Ciaccia and La Muddizza.
The neighboring communities are Badesi (OT), Castelsardo, Santa Maria Coghinas , Sedini and Viddalba .
history
Valledoria originally belonged to the Giudicato of Torres and then came into the possession of the Genoese Doria family . In the 15th century, after the conquest by Aragon , the valley of the Coghinas was almost depopulated by epidemics. Only in the middle of the 19th century did the population increase again with the influx of families from Aggius and Tempio Pausania . In 1960 Valledoria Codaruina became an independent municipality. In 1983 the previous sub-community of Santa Maria Coghinas also became independent.

Due to the demographic development, the Gallurian dialect of Sardinian is spoken in the main town , while the other fractions belong to the dialect area of Sassarese .
economy
In addition to agriculture, tourism now plays an important role. The place advertises with good conditions for water sports, especially for windsurfing, as well as the varied landscape to visitors.
