Surname
The place name is derived from the name Topola ( papulus alba ) on historical and geographical maps ( Katharinenfeld, Katarina, Katharinenfeld ). Due to its geographical location, Ravni Topolovac is close to the Tamiš river , so the village changed its location and name as a result of many floods.
It is believed that the village was first inhabited by Germans in 1795 and belongs to the western Banat . It is stated that the majority of the population was dominated by Serbs. In the area of Beckerek, Lugos and Timisoara several places with the name “Ravni Topolovac” have been recorded. This was confirmed by Austro-Hungarian maps from the 16th to 18th centuries. Century. Because of this, the current name was transferred several times to Banat villages (Sečanj, Sarča, Katarina).
Katarinafeld, today's Ravni Topolovac, was founded at the end of the 18th century. Throughout history, the village changed its name as follows:
- 1794–1853 Katarinafeld ( Katharinafeld )
- 1854–1864 Katarinenfeld ( Katharinenfeld )
- 1864–1878 Katarinfeld ( Katharinfeld )
- 1878–1918 Katalinfalva ( Katarinfalva )
- 1918–1920 Katarina

- 1941–1944 Kathereinfeld ( Kathereinfeld )
- 1944–1947 Katarina
- 1947-1948 Topolovac
- 1948–1949 Banatski Topolovac

history
Katarina Kisch founded the village in the 18th century when it was colonized by Germans (Danube Swabians). After the Second World War, colonists from Bosnia and Herzegovina moved to the village of Katarina after the German population had been driven out of it.
With the expansion of the Bega River in 1733, permanent bank life was possible. Because of the armed conflicts in the times of the Ottoman Empire and Austria-Hungary, a life of this type was not possible. Other reasons were unpredictable floods, persecution and nomadism.
Since immigration in 1794, many socio-economic and government-made changes have occurred that have had a massive impact on development.
