Redlitz , Rědłojce in Lower Sorbian , is a residential area of Groß Klessow , a district of the city of Lübbenau / Spreewald in the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district in Brandenburg .

location

Redlitz is located in Niederlausitz on the southernmost edge of the Spreewald about five kilometers south of Lübbenau in the official settlement area of the Sorbs / Wends . Surrounding villages are Groß Klessow in the north, Boblitz in the northeast, Groß Lübbenau in the east, Bischdorf in the southeast, Schönfeld Nord in the southwest, Kittlitz in the west and Eisdorf in the northwest.

Redlitz is located near the former Seese-West open-cast lignite mine . The former neighboring town of Kückebusch was dredged in favor of the opencast mine.

history

The first mention of Redlitz dated to the year 1363, when the property lady of Seese two hooves in "Redelicz" as jointure was attributed. The place name is derived from the Sorbian language and means "place where the people of a man named Radel live". Accordingly, “Radel” must have been one of the landlords .

In the period that followed, the landowners changed frequently. In 1821 there were eight buildings with 40 inhabitants in Redlitz, of the six families in the village, two were farmers and four were kossas . After the separation in 1825, the farmers in Redlitz each had to give up a third of their land to the manor , so that only a fifth of the 100 hectare area belonged to the farmers living there. In 1840 there was a manor and a brick factory in Redlitz , the village had 50 inhabitants. By 1864 the number of inhabitants rose to 64. Redlitz was parish in Lübbenau. In 1870 the Counts of Lynar acquired the manor and leased the manor and the village corridor, which had been divided into about 300 parcels , to interested parties. At the same time there was a brick factory in the village. Most of the Redlitz manor district was merged with the Groß Lübbenauer manor district in 1928.

After the land reform in 1945, the landlords were expropriated and the land was divided among the five farmers in the village. In 1960 they joined the “Energie” agricultural production cooperative in Groß Klessow. Due to the Seese-West opencast mine , large parts of the southern district were lost; today the area has largely been recultivated and is used for agriculture.

After the agreements of the Congress of Vienna , Redlitz came to the Kingdom of Prussia and was located in the district of Calau . On January 1, 1926, it was incorporated into Groß Klessow . On July 25, 1952 Redlitz was assigned as part of Groß Klessow to the newly formed Calau district in the Cottbus district . After the reunification , the village was in the Calau district in Brandenburg . After the district reform in Brandenburg on December 6, 1993 , Groß Klessow and Redlitz were assigned to the newly formed district of Oberspreewald-Lausitz . On October 26, 2003, Groß Klessow was incorporated into Lübbenau / Spreewald and Redlitz was downgraded to a residential area .
