Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso

The red wine variety Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso is a variety of the Refosco variety , comes from the northern Italian region of Friuli and has been known and documented since the 18th century. It gets its name because of the red colored stems. Refosco dal Peduncolo rosso used to be confused with other varieties of Refosco vines, such as Refosco d'Istria, Rauscedo or Refoscone.

The variety produces a garnet-colored, acid and tannin-rich wine with a fruity bouquet . Ampelographs keep bringing the Refosco family closer to the Marzemino grape variety .

The variety is grown in the Italian DOC zones Carso , Colli Orientali del Friuli , Friuli-Annia , Friuli Aquileia , Friuli Grave , Isonzo and Friuli Latisana in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region and Lison Pramaggiore in the border area between the two regions of Friuli-Venezia Giulia and Veneto used. Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso is a variety of the noble grapevine ( Vitis vinifera ). It has hermaphroditic flowers and is therefore self-fruiting. In viticulture , the economic disadvantage of not having to grow male plants that produce yield is avoided.
