Friuli Isonzo (wine region)
Friuli Isonzo , also: Isonzo del Friuli or simply Isonzo , is an Italian wine-growing region on both sides of the Isonzo River in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region near the Slovenian border. The area has had DOC approval since 1974 , which was last updated on March 7, 2014.
Growing area
These are in particular the municipalities of Romans d'Isonzo , Gradisca d'Isonzo , Villesse , San Pier d'Isonzo , Turriaco , Medea , Moraro , Mariano del Friuli . Furthermore, parts of the following localities belong to it: Cormòns , Capriva del Friuli , San Lorenzo Isontino , Monfalcone , Mossa , Gorizia , Fogliano Redipuglia , Farra d'Isonzo , Savogna d'Isonzo , Sagrado , Ronchi dei Legionari , San Canzian d'Isonzo and Staranzano in the province of Gorizia.
In 2017, 40,471 hectoliters of DOC wine were produced.

- Blending wines: "Friuli Isonzo Bianco" (also as Frizzante ), "Friuli Isonzo Rosso" (also as Frizzante), "Friuli Isonzo Rosato" (also as Frizzante)
- Wines with grape variety designation are "Friuli Isonzo ...", followed by the respective grape variety: Chardonnay , Moscato giallo , Pinot bianco , Pinot grigio , Riesling , Sauvignon , Friulano , Traminer aromatico , Verduzzo friulano , Cabernet (from Cabernet franc and / or Cabernet sauvignon ) , Cabernet franc , Cabernet sauvignon , Franconia , Merlot , Moscato rosa , Pignolo , Pinot nero , Refosco dal peduncolo and Schioppettino .
- The designation "Friuli Isonzo" or "Isonzo del Friuli", followed by the designation "vendemmia tardiva" (German: Spätlese) is reserved for wines made from the following grape varieties: Friulano, Sauvignon, Verduzzo friulano, Pinot Bianco, Chardonnay and Malvasia istriana.
- Sparkling wines ( Spumante ) are also made from the Chardonnay, Moscato Giallo, Verduzzo Friulano and Pinot grape varieties .
- "Friuli Isonzo Chardonnay Spumante" or "Isonzo del Friuli Chardonnay Spumante" may contain a maximum of 15% Pinot nero.

Friuli Isonzo Merlot
Red wine made from 100% Merlot grapes.

Friuli Isonzo Pinot Grigio
Dry white wine made from 100% Pinot Grigio grapes .
