The white wine variety Verduzzo Friulano is an autochthonous variety of northern Italy and a classic variety of Friuli . Its cultivation is recommended in the provinces of Treviso and Venice (both in Veneto ) and the former provinces of Gorizia , Pordenone and Udine ( Friuli-Venezia Giulia region ). It is also approved in some provinces of Sardinia . In 1999 a planted vineyard area of 1,797 hectares was raised.
The late-ripening variety is vigorous and high-yielding. The varietal white wines are straw yellow to golden yellow in color and have a high alcohol content. Both dry and sweet wines are obtained from it, with the significantly better qualities being found in the sweet variant. The wine finds its way into the DOC wines Colli Orientali del Friuli , Friuli-Annia , Friuli Aquileia , Friuli Grave , Friuli Isonzo and Friuli Latisana as a single variety or as a blend .
