Reicheneck is the smallest district of the district town of Reutlingen in the district of the same name in Reutlingen in Baden-Württemberg .

Geographical location and development

The village is about five kilometers north of Reutlingen.

history

The place name, a typical castle name, was first mentioned in a document from 1336. The castle and hamlet are said to have been subordinate to the Lords of Riet since the 14th century . They gradually sold their property to the citizens of Reutlingen. The Pfullingen monastery and the former monastery office, which had been almost the sole landlord since the beginning of the 16th century, were also wealthy. Until 1938, Reicheneck belonged to the Urach Oberamt, then to the Reutlingen district. On January 1, 1971, Reicheneck was incorporated into the city of Reutlingen.

religion

Reicheneck has always belonged to Mittelstadt, but in 1908 the independent Protestant branch parish Reicheneck of the mother community of Mittelstadt was formed. In 1910 Reicheneck received its own Protestant church. Today's Protestant parish Reicheneck is, along with the Protestant parish Mittelstadt, the only Protestant parish in the city of Reutlingen that belongs to the Bad Urach-Münsingen church district .

development

The original water supply ("dr bronna") is still used today for watering plants. While many families lived from agriculture 50 years ago , a structural change took place after the Second World War , so that today the village is mainly inhabited by small families. The most important social institutions are the kindergarten , the Protestant parish and the local history museum in the attic of the town hall. The most important festival of the Reichenecker is the Sichelhenke every two years .

Protestant church

The Protestant church , built in 1910, was designed by the later well-known Art Nouveau architect Martin Elsaesser with a roof turret and deliberately in an English country house half-timbered style. The four altar windows with colored Art Nouveau ornaments date from the construction period. With the mural above on the choir wall (Jesus walks on the lake: Be of good cheer, it's me!) The Mittelstädter artist Alfred Braun wants to convey confidence and faith after a difficult time in 1948.

Volunteer firefighter

The volunteer fire department Reicheneck is equipped with a Löschgruppenfahrzeug type Mercedes-Benz MB 917 AF and a crew transport vehicle of the type Mercedes-Benz Vito . There is also a youth fire brigade .

Reicheneck village shop

On January 9, 2016, the Reicheneck village shop was opened on the ground floor of the town hall. It is the result of long discussions about local supplies in Reicheneck. The last shop in Reicheneck, which was operated full-time, had to close in 2008 due to a lack of sales. In the spring of 2015, the residents founded a cooperative that financially supports the village shop and runs it through volunteer workers. The cooperative now has 160 members.

societies

The most important club in the community is the table tennis club TTV Reicheneck eV It has existed since 1972 and has a gymnastics and a volleyball subgroup.

coat of arms

Reicheneck coat of arms
Blazon : "In a split shield in front in gold (yellow) a blue shaft shaft, behind in blue a golden (yellow) hunting dog."
Justification of the coat of arms: The coat of arms refers to the oldest known local lords, the Lords of Riet, whose coat of arms shows a soaring animal, probably a bracken (hunting dog). To distinguish it from the coat of arms of the municipality of Altenriet in the district of Esslingen, which also contains a bracken, a shaft drawbar was added, which alludes to the location of the place between the common confluence of the Weiherbach and the Rosenbächles in the Reichenbach. The Ministry of the Interior awarded the coat of arms in 1956.

Sons and daughters of the district

  • Otto Schaude was not born in Reicheneck, but his center of life was there and is buried there.
