Betzingen is the second most populous district of Reutlingen in Baden-Württemberg after Reutlingen-Mitte . Although it was incorporated into Reutlingen in 1907 and has since become very urbanized and industrialized, the place with around 11,000 inhabitants still has original and rural features.

Geographical location
Betzingen is located in the Echaz valley between the cities of Reutlingen and Tübingen at an altitude of 360 m above sea level. NHN . In the center of the village, the Leyrenbach, coming from the north, flows into the Echaz.

history
The first traces of human settlement in Betzingen are from the Hallstatt period (700–500 BC) with several finds, especially grave mounds. Already in the Middle Ages, Betzingen belonged to Reutlingen, which was confirmed in a document from the Roman-German king and later Emperor Maximilian I of August 8, 1497. After the end of the imperial city period of Reutlingen, Betzingen became an independent municipality in 1803, before the place was incorporated into Reutlingen again in 1907. From 1912 to 1967 the district was also connected to the city center by the Reutlingen tram .
The current district mayor of Betzingen is Friedemann Rupp.

- The new Deutsche Welle star Hubert Kah was born and raised in Betzingen.
- The TSV Betzingen is the largest sports club in Betzingen, it is divided into 14 divisions. Including a BMX Bundesliga team and several soccer teams in different classes. The handball teams are represented up to the Oberliga Württemberg.
