Bronnweiler is the smallest of 12 districts (districts) of the district town of Reutlingen in the district of Reutlingen in Baden-Wuerttemberg with its municipal area of 119 hectares .

geography

Bronnweiler is about ten kilometers southwest of the city of Reutlingen on the edge of the Swabian Alb . The immediate vicinity of Bronnweiler is part of the plains of the middle Braunjura . The Wiesaz cut its way into the leveling area formed by the blue limestone step (Braunjura gamma) . The settlement originated in this valley of the Wiesaz. State road 230 runs through the village and connects the village with the neighboring communities of Gönningen and Gomaringen .

history

Bronnweiler is mentioned for the first time around 1100 in the Hirsauer Codex and the size, apart from a manor house, is given as four properties. Egilolf von Pfullingen gave the Hirsau Monastery five Huben (Low German " Hufe ") in the hamlet . In the 13th century the lords of Stöffeln were the greatest landlords. Around 1280, the Lords of Stöffeln sold their hamlet and church to the Johanniter von Hemmendorf. Until 1802 Bronnweiler was part of the Free Imperial City of Reutlingen. Then the place became an independent rural community of the Oberamt or district of Reutlingen. On January 1, 1971, it was incorporated into the city of Reutlingen .

coat of arms

As an independent rural community, Bronnweiler had its own coat of arms:

Blazon : "In silver on an obliquely left, S-shaped curved, continuous, green linden branch with three leaves pointing upwards and two to the left below, a left-turned gold-armored cuckoo in natural colors with raised tail feathers."

Marienkirche

The Marienkirche

The church in Bronnweiler consists of a Romanesque hall building from the 1st half of the 12th century and a Gothic style choir , the foundation stone of which was laid in 1415. The tower also dates from this period in the early 15th century. The late Gothic choir is noteworthy in terms of architectural history in that it shows a relationship with buildings of the Swabian-Bohemian Parlerschule .

The church and parish are first mentioned in 1275.

Others

The peace linden tree

Four listed trees are on the Bronnweiler marker : a giant sequoia and three linden trees . The sequoia (Wellingtonia - Sequoiadendron giganteum) is located directly on the outer wall of the choir of St. Mary's Church, raised around 1860 from seeds from Turkey at the instigation of King Wilhelm I. The peace linden tree is visible from afar and characterizes the landscape on an otherwise bare round hill above the village, planted in 1871 after the Franco-Prussian War . The trees Schillerlinde (1905) and Lutherlinde (1917), which stand together, stand above the village.
