The Reinerbach is a creek almost 10 kilometers long in the canton of Aargau and a south-western and left tributary of the Aare . It drains part of the eastern slope of the Bözberg ridge and the valley of Remigen in the Brugg district .

geography

course

The Reinerbach rises at an altitude of about 532  m above sea level. M. between the villages of Egenwil, Altstalden and Birch in the area of Oberbözberg on the western edge of the Birchholz forest area.

The Reinerbach reaches the village of Kirchbözberg in a narrow valley, where it is also called Krebsbach and into which the partially ossified brook of Birch joins from the right, and from the right joins the Mattebach , which rises at the Vierlinden street settlement southeast of the village of Ursprung. In the Itele valley from Kirchbözberg to the plain near Rüfenach , the Reinerbach also has the second name of Ithalenbach . In this section of the river, which has steep cliffs on the right, six side streams of different lengths flow into it from the left, of which the Lutisbach , Winkelmattbach and Itelenhaldbach are the most important.

In the plain south of Rüfenach the Reiner- or Ithalenbach takes from the right Rinikerbach on the south-west of Riniken springs and northwest several other streams in the area of Brugg collects. At the northwestern foot of the Bruggerberg , the Reinerbach flows past the village of Hinterrein and through the wide Breiti plain to the north, until it takes in the Schmittenbach from the left at the edge of the village of Villigen , which flows down from Mönthal into the Aare valley.

The Reinerbach crosses the southern part of Villigen in several loops and then turns to the northeast. On the last section he cut a deep valley almost a kilometer long into the gravel terrace up to the Aare embankment. In this last section of the river it is also called the Kumetbach . With its debris, the Reinerbach at the edge of the Aare has formed a rubble fan that noticeably narrows the course of the Aare.

It finally flows into Villigen at an altitude of 315  m above sea level. M. from the left and southwest into the Aare approaching from the south.

Its 9.8 km long run ends about 217 meters below its source, so it has a mean bed gradient of about 22 ‰.

Catchment area

The 32.84 km² catchment area of the Reinerbach lies in the Jura Mountains and is drained to the North Sea via the Aare and the Rhine .

It consists of 49.0% wooded area , 42.5% agricultural area , 8.4% settlement area and 0.1% water area.

The mean height of the catchment area is 479  m above sea level. M. , the minimum height is 325  m above sea level. M. and the maximum height at 699  m above sea level. M.
