career

At the age of 13, the student Reinhard Dittel came from TuS Meckenheide in 1962 to the youth department of Hannover 96. After the A-youth he played in the amateur team of 96ig and at the same time began a teaching degree after graduating from high school. From 1971 to 1977 he was at Hannover 96, in the first two years substitute goalkeeper of the Bundesliga team with only one or four appearances, then frequently alternating with the other goalkeeper Franz-Josef Pauly , he came in about half of the games Commitment. Dittel made his amateur debut on April 22, 1972 at the home game against Werder Bremen (5-1) in the Bundesliga. He came on in the 72nd minute for the injured "Jumbo" Pauly. For the 1972/73 season he got a professional contract. Pauly was number 1 and Dittel saw four Bundesliga games on the pitch. The 33rd and 34th round match days were outstanding. On the penultimate match day, June 2, 1973, in a 2-0 home win against Hertha BSC, he impressed with a goal-free win and was therefore in the goal of the final game on June 9 at Wuppertaler SV. With a completely surprising 4-0 away win at the Stadion am Zoo , Hannover stayed in the Bundesliga. Dittel provided the vulnerable defense with the necessary support and became a kind of "mascot" for the overjoyed Hanoverians. Hanover contested the “miracle of Wuppertal” in the line-up with Dittel, Rainer Stiller , Hans-Herbert Blumenthal , Hans-Josef Hellingrath , Peter Anders , Rolf Kaemmer , Ludwig Denz , Hans Siemensmeyer , Eckhard Deterding , Willi Reimann and Roland Stegmayer .

In 1974/1975 he played in the 2nd Bundesliga North after the Hanoverians were relegated. After the immediate return to the Bundesliga, Dittel rose again after one season. The last season at Hannover 96 he completed after relegation in the 2nd Bundesliga North, where he came to 11 missions. For the season, the goalkeeper joined OSV Hannover in the northeast of the state capital in the Oberliga Nord.

At OSV Hanover , Dittel was the regular goalkeeper and won the championship in 1978 and 1979, but was only able to advance directly to the 2nd Bundesliga with the OSV team in the second attempt as champions of the Oberliga 1978/79 . In addition, he was also active with OSV in the competition for the German amateur championship . In the first round, Dittel and colleagues prevailed against Röchling Völklingen (1: 0, 2: 1), the semi-final game was lost against the eventual champions ESV Ingolstadt (0: 5, 3: 1). With the promotion coach Karl-Heinz Mülhausen , the team around goalkeeper Dittel, Karl-August Herbeck and striker Bernd Krumbein (37 games / 18 goals) reached 12th place in the first year in the 2nd Bundesliga, 1979/80 , and Dittel had all 38 League games completed. The red-whites from the Oststadion could not maintain the level in the second year and were relegated to the amateur camp as 22nd. Dittel had been in goal again in 35 second division games.

Dittel convinced more with well thought-out poses than with spectacular parades. In the early eighties he worked for two years as a goalkeeper coach at TSV Havelse under Volker Finke . He taught the subjects of sport, politics and economics at a grammar school in Sarstedt .
