Reinhold W. Timm
Reinhold W. Timm (born August 26, 1931 in Stettin ; † August 6, 2001 in Berlin ) was a German painter , press illustrator and caricaturist .
Life
Timm was born in Stettin in 1931, and his first drawings appeared in the press from 1943 onwards. From 1946 he learned the trade of window dresser, from 1951 studied at the master school for graphics in Bremen. In 1957 Timm spent a year in New York. Five days after the Wall was built, he moved to West Berlin in 1961. In 1989 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st Class .
Timm's work was u. a. Published in BZ , Berliner Morgenpost , Welt am Sonntag , in the press almanac and in Visiting Berlin . Since 1974 Reinhold W. Timm has made over 40 foundations for charitable purposes, including for the Problem Child Campaign , the Jewish Community , the German Cancer Aid and the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
He suffered several strokes. He died on August 6, 2001 at the age of 69 in the Lazarus nursing home in Berlin-Wedding. He was buried in the Heerstrasse cemetery in Berlin .
Pictures and exhibitions
He made portraits of Jimmy Carter , Herbert von Karajan and Richard von Weizsäcker , among others . He had exhibitions in New York, Los Angeles, Paris, Rome, Tel Aviv, Munich, Rio de Janeiro, Washington, Kampen on Sylt, Bonn, Düsseldorf, Berlin, Wiesbaden and Frankfurt am Main. Regular exhibitions of Timm's work could be seen in the Hotel Kempinski (on Kurfürstendamm Berlin ) and in other hotel halls, at Tegel Airport and in department stores with book signings.
Image technology
Painted tempera on cached cardboard. All of his pictures in the style of well-known impressionists, which are usually very colorful, without a brush, with the paint tube applied directly to the cardboard. His stroke is quick and impatient.
