The Remel (also Remelbach), in the French the Remel , is an approximately 16 km long left tributary of the Nied in the French department Moselle in the region Grand Est and in the German state Saarland in the district Saarlouis .

course

The Remel rises at about 283  m in the forest area Forêt de Kallenhofen in the southeastern part of the municipality of Kirschnmerung . The river initially flows to the north-northeast and immediately afterwards crosses the municipal boundary to Halstroff before it crosses under the D956 . He leaves the wooded area and turns to the southeast. It flows through the village center of Halstroff, Bizing and the southern village center of Flastroff . Here the Weistroff pours into the Remel from the right , before it touches Colmen in the east and takes in the Waldwisse from the left .

The river now passes Neunkirchen-lès-Bouzonville , where it takes in the Mannebach from the left and the Dusbach from the right , before flowing around the district of Remeldorff . Shortly before the estuary, it turns again to the northeast, flowing parallel to the Nied. After briefly forming the state border, it crosses the community of Rehlingen-Siersburg in Saarland for the last 1.1 kilometers . On its last section it runs to the south-southeast and passes the Niedaltdorf district in the south. Finally, the Remel flows at about 187  m above sea level. NN from the left and northeast into the Nied.
