history

The originally independent Remkersleben was first mentioned in a document in 945.

When Remkersleben was incorporated into Klein Wanzleben on July 1, 2002 , the place lost its political independence. On September 1, 2010, the sugar village of Klein Wanzleben became a district of Wanzleben-Börde.

coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on December 4, 1998 by the Magdeburg Regional Council.

Blazon : "In blue over a raised silver shield base with a six-pointed blue star, a silver scale."

The patron saint of the local church is the Archangel Michael, who is therefore also included in the seal of the community. Due to his long robe and the fact that his attributes next to the sword include the scales, he was misinterpreted as Justitia for some time. However, the wings prove that it is actually the archangel. A few less successful seal copies favored confusion. He was often depicted against a blue background. In addition to this tincture, his attribute, the scales, was chosen for the coat of arms. The district of Meyendorf, incorporated in 1928, is very much shaped by the former Catholic monastery. Abbess Theresia Henkel, from whose coat of arms the star, which Meyendorf symbolizes in the new coat of arms of Remkersleben, comes from, played a decisive role in the upswing after a devastating fire and an almost one hundred year period of decline. The tincture of the star was kept in that of the shield, since the documents do not say anything about this problem.

Buildings

The village's Protestant St. Michael Church has a steeple dating from the Romanesque period. The current nave was built in 1855. In 1957 the Riemannsche Kossäthenhof was demolished.

Economy and Transport

Remkersleben owned a train station on the Blumenberg – Eilsleben railway line , which has not been used for passenger traffic since 2002, and freight traffic has also been suspended since that time.
