The wild zombies have a great time , alternatively The Return of the Hell Zombies (Original title: Return of the Living Dead Part II ) is an American zombie comedy by director Ken Wiederhorn from 1988.
The production is after Dan O'Bannons Damn, the Zombies are coming (original title: The Return of the Living Dead , 1985) the second part of a five-part film series.

The US Army loses a barrel of a volatile and toxic substance called during a military transport Trioxin together with a potted zombie. This dangerous cargo is accidentally discovered by three children in a drainage ditch at a nearby cemetery in the small community of Westvale, California . Driven by adventurous curiosity, two of the teenagers open the container while little Jesse Wilson, the third in the group, hurries home. Unfortunately, the chemical leaks; both boys are contaminated. Meanwhile, the trioxin flows in clouds of mist over the burial place as the sudden onset of rain carries the gaseous substance into the ground. The buried corpses then come to life again. Driven by their greed for human brains , they invade the nearby town.
The living dead harass u. a. the experienced corpse looter Ed, his assistant Joey and his partner Brenda in the mausoleum of the cemetery. The criminal trio manage to escape to the suburb, where they meet a group of three around Jesse Wilson. Jesse tried unsuccessfully to convince his older sister Lucy, as well as the present sales representative of the local cable operator, Tom Essex, of the ominous poison barrel and the existence of the undead .
The local residents are soon attacked by hosts of the living dead. With the meeting of the two groups, the grave robber trio with the young siblings and Tom, the attacks of the zombies increase significantly in severity and brutality. The brain-hungry beasts soon besieged the house of the six living who, in dire need, escape to the town's small hospital. There the condition of the two meanwhile infected grave robbers Ed and Joey is deteriorating worryingly. A transformation into a nearly invulnerable creature is imminent. This is also confirmed by the local doctor Dr. Almond, who diagnosed the two patients with a comatose condition. However, Brenda does not believe in his findings and - after the group separates again - flees in a car with the men who have been subjected to physical deterioration; a little later she is attacked and killed.
In the meantime, the military has evacuated all survivors from the restricted area that has been sealed off from the outside world. Only the quartet around Jesse, Lucy, Tom and Dr. Almond is forgotten. Since you can neither contact help, the telephone connections are interrupted, nor can you leave the quarantine zone safely, the troops have an order to shoot, you try to eliminate the zombies with a ruse. For this purpose, the walking beings are lured into a power plant with the brains of a slaughterhouse , where they are effectively fought against in a joint effort by means of electrical discharges. The electric shocks prevent the reanimation effect of the Trioxion and thus prevent the dead from being resuscitated. The danger is over at the end of the film.
