ReverbNation

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

ReverbNation is a US American website for musicians, bands and labels of all kinds. The website was first put into operation on October 31, 2006. The homepage is owned by eMinor . ReverbNation is similar to MySpace , where you can register for free and chat with other users or with bands. ReverbNation is not tied to any major label , so bands without a record deal are also registered. The web company is based in New York .

Innovations

The website uses widgets that enable registered users to make music from their favorite bands visible on other sites that are under contract with ReverbNation. This TuneWidget , like other widget services on the website, is free. Bands are categorized according to their genres and success is measured. There are special ReverbNation charts for each genre . This feature is called Band Equity . In 2008, Jason Lekberg, Digital Marketing Manager of Epic Records, described the TuneWidget as a “must” for all artists of viral campaigns. More than 650,000 bands and musicians are listed on the website.

additional

In 2007 the band Rehab headlined the ReverbNation Summer 2007 Tour . Judas Priest published a preview version of a song from their new album on the website. The ReverbNation online shop offers t-shirts, CDs and downloads from registered bands.

In September 2015 it became known that the company had been victims of a cyber attack and member data from over 3.8 million users had been stolen 1½ years earlier.
