Villa Rheinallee 32 as Consulate General of Algeria (2012)

The Rheinallee 32 building is a villa in the Bad Godesberg district of Bonn , which was built in 1910/11. It is located in the Godesberg-Villenviertel district on the south side of the Rheinallee. The villa stands as a monument under monument protection .

history

The villa was built as part of the “second” Godesberg villa district, which was intensively developed after 1900, based on a design by the architect Albin Müller for the manufacturer W. Emmelius. The building application for the building was submitted on July 5, 1910, and it was completed in April 1911.

In 1961/62 the office of the Embassy of the Republic of Haiti at the seat of government in Bonn was located in the villa . The People's Democratic Republic of Algeria then set up the office of its newly opened embassy in the Federal Republic of Germany in the building (→ Embassy of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria (Bonn) ). After 1985, Algeria also took over the neighboring Villa Rheinallee 34 to expand the offices of the embassy . For this purpose, both villas were structurally connected to one another by an intermediate wing.

After the move of the Algerian embassy to Berlin in 1999/2000 , which was associated with the relocation of the seat of government , the villa and the neighboring house remained in the possession of the state and was part of the Algerian consulate general until it was moved to Frankfurt am Main in December 2013 . The two buildings still belong to the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria.

architecture

The villa has two floors above a high basement ( basement built) and is at the top by a mansard hipped completed. There is a narrow, polygonal porch with a platform ( Söller ) on the street front . The facade is symmetrically designed in simple shapes, it is by flat Pilaster with ornament borders divided at the edges. The parapet of the platform is designed as a plastic frieze . The connection to the neighboring house is formed by a single-storey, glazed intermediate wing that accommodates the entrance.
