The Rieder Bach is a tributary of the Antiesen in the Innviertel , Upper Austria , and the main river of the city of Ried in the Innkreis .

Run

The Rieder Bach is only 2.6 kilometers long. It arises north of the old town of Rieder , below the brewery site, through the confluence of the Oberach and Breitsach rivers . To the northwest of Ried, between Danner and Maria Aich (both in the  Aurolzmünster district ), it flows into the Antiesen together with the Aubach , which drains the western part of the city of Ried ( Riedberg district ).

Over its two source rivers, the Rieder Bach has a catchment area of 82.1 square kilometers, which encompasses the entire northern roof of the Hausruck around Eberschwang , Pramet and Schildorn , making it the most water-rich and largest tributary of the Antiesen. Its gradient is only 0.68% on average.

In addition to the Aubach von Gobrechtsham (municipality of  Neuhofen im Innkreis ) - and its tributary, the Gobrechtshamer Bach - with a catchment area of 8 km 2 , only the Oltenbach is worth mentioning on its backwaters , that of the Knittler settlementmunicipality of Hohenzell ) the Rieder northeast part between Tumeltsham and the old stadium .

Hydrology and construction

The Riederbach is completely built up as a typical urban watercourse, interrupted by 14 transverse structures, and the estuary section is a residual water stretch that is undoped for most of the year. In addition, it is the floodwater of the sewage treatment plant of the city of Ried, and, although this has brought enormous improvements for the formerly “muddy and foul-smelling water”, it is the most polluted section of the river in the Antiesen catchment area. Nonetheless, the body of water has "enormous potential for renaturation "; comprehensive renaturation in line with the model of the Water Framework Directive is likely to fail in the immediate city area due to the space requirements. The two source rivers, the Oberach and the Breitsach, are in a similar state in the urban area of Ried.
