The Riedwiesen - also called nature reserve Riedwiesen, NSG Riedwiesen or NSG Riedwiesen bei Niederursel in official publications - are a nature reserve in the area of the city of Frankfurt am Main in Hesse . It is located in the Frankfurt green belt in the northern Niddaauen of the city, on the eastern edge of the Niederursel / Mertonviertel district . In the northeast, the nature reserve borders on the federal motorway 661 , in the southeast on the orographically right, geographically western bank of the Nidda . The 20.5 hectare area with the identification 1412004 has been designated as a nature reserve since 1983.
Flora and fauna
In the Riedwiesen NSG you can find the plant species silver birch ( Betula pendula; see photo), meadowsweet ( Filipendula vulgaris ), dysentery flea ( Pulicaria dysenterica ) and panicle sedge ( Carex paniculata ). The animal species that live there include crested newts ( Triturus cristatus ), common toads ( Bufo bufo ) and water frogs (Ranidae) as well as field vole ( Microtus arvalis ) and bank vole ( Myodes glareolus ).
